Dit in 2012 in opdracht van Clifford Chance Amsterdam vervaardigde boek is een monografie over een bijzonder kantoorgebouw in Amsterdam, gelegen aan de Droogbak en in de directe nabijheid van het Centraal Station. Vanaf 1884 tot 1920 was hier het hoofdkantoor van de Hollandse IJzeren Spoorweg Maatschappij gevestigd, een grote commerciële exploitant van de Nederlandse spoorlijnen en later opgegaan in de Nederlandse Spoorwegen. Voor het boek is uitvoerig architectuurhistorisch, bouwhistorisch en historisch onderzoek verricht.  Het boek behandelt de bouwgeschiedenis en de achtergronden van het gebouw. Speciale aandacht is besteed aan onder andere de betekenis van de nog aanwezige fraaie decoraties en bijzondere interieurelementen.  In het jaar 2000 vestigde de Nederlandse tak van het internationale advocatenkantoor Clifford Chance zich in het pand.
