Dit monumentale aan de Haagse Carel van Bylandtlaan gelegen kantoorgebouw kwam gereed in 1917 en maakt tot op de dag van vandaag deel uit van het langs deze laan gevestigde internationale hoofdkwartier  van Shell in Den Haag.  Het in opdracht van Shell International BV vervaardigde boek geeft, gebaseerd op uitgebreid bronnenonderzoek, gedetailleerd en rijkelijk geïllustreerd inzicht in de bouwgeschiedenis en de architectuur-, cultuur- en bedrijfshistorische achtergronden van het pand. Speciale aandacht is er voor de architecten, kunstenaars en leveranciers die een bijdrage aan het gebouw en het interieur hebben geleverd; tevens komen moderne aspecten van het kantoor aan bod. Het boekis gemaakt in nauwe samenwerking met Rosalie van Egmond, manager van het internationale Shell-archief in Den Haag.
